Sony is offering PlayStation 5 owners a free, six-month trial of Apple TV+. This comes one month after Apple reduced the one-year free Apple TV+ trial for people who buy a new Mac, iPad or iPhone down to three months only. The Sony deal is open even if you’re already paying for Apple TV+ on a monthly basis.

The offer is available around the world, and runs for the next year. You’ll need both a PS5 and Apple ID to take advantage of it. Sony’s small print for the offer notes that:

“Offer may only be redeemed once per PS5 console; limit one per Apple TV+ subscriber. Must be redeemed by 22/07/22. Offer redeemable through PS5 Media Home. Games not included. No games or gameplay required to redeem offer. Valid for new and existing subscribers to Apple TV+ in the UK. Requires Apple ID with payment method on file. Compatible products and services required. May not be combined with other offers providing access to Apple TV+. Plan renews for [regular monthly fee] after extended trial period until cancelled.”

To take advantage of the offer, load up the Apple TV app on your PS5. After that, sign in with your Apple ID and the trial will be added to your account.

Apple has not yet shared subscriber numbers for Apple TV+. However, it is far behind leaders like Netflix and Disney+. While Apple doesn’t frequently offer discounts on its products, it’s been slightly more willing to do so when it comes to its subscription services, as a way of exposing them to more people.

Are you an Apple TV+ subscriber? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Edit: The offer expires 2022, not 2021. Thanks to everyone who pointed this out.
