The 2021 iPad mini might look something like this.
Concept: Cult of Mac

The much-anticipated iPad mini 6 will boast the Apple A15 processor, according to an unconfirmed report. That should bring a significant performance increase. And the tablet will allegedly have a USB-C port and a Smart Connector.

iPad mini 6 with A15 processor

The next-generation iPad mini will use the same processor as the upcoming iPhone 13, according to information leaked to 9to5Mac.  The A15 chip is already in production. The exact specs are unknown, but it is, of course, expected to be faster than its predecessor. And a significant jump from the A12 in the current iPad mini 5.

The unconfirmed report also says the tablet will make the switch from a Lightning port to USB-C. That’s something previous leaks have said, too. If true, it will leave the budget iPad as Apple’s only tablet without USB-C.

And the sixth-generation iPad mini will supposedly have Apple’s Smart Connector. This raises the possibility that there’ll be a version of the Apple Magic Keyboard for it.

Leaks originating with 9to5Mac are 78.7% accurate, according to AppleTrack. That’s a relatively high accuracy rate.

A significant redesign

Previous reports indicate that dramatic change is coming to this computer. It’ll supposedly get a nearly edge-to-edge screen, dumping the hefty bezels in the current version. That’ll make room for a 8.4 inches display, up from 7.9 inches in previous models, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman.

The device will also supposedly sport a Touch ID sensor in its power button. And a smaller version of the Apple Pencil will allegedly be made for the tablet.

The iPad mini 6 could debut as early as autumn 2021. Pricing is unknown at this time, but the current version starts at $399.
