The just-released PopGrip Slide Stretch lets users keep a handle on their iPhone 12 without interfering with the MagSafe charging system. That’s because the new gadget from PopSockets lets the PopGrip slide back and forth on the back of the handset.

A PopGrip not glued into place

PopGrips traditionally stick to the back of handsets with adhesive. The new slider clips to the sides of the device instead, making it more useful. It can move to near the bottom of the iPhone to prop up an iPhone in portrait mode, for example. Or move back to hold the device up in landscape mode.

And PopGrip Slide Stretch doesn‘t get in the way of MagSafe. This system, which debuted in the iPhone 12, embeds a wireless charging mat and a circle of magnets into the back of the handset. Chargers then cling to the iPhone. Or the iPhone clings to the charger.

PopSockets promises its new attachment system is compatible with all current PopMounts and PopTops. And the company says it’ll fit over most phone cases, whether they have curved or straight edges.

PopGrip Slide Stretch comes in black, white, clear, deep periwinkle, carbonite weave or knurled texture on the PopSockets web site. The cost is $15.

Those who don’t care about MagSafe might be interested in the PopPower, which lets regular PopGrips wirelessly charge.
