Redditor and commercial editor nicknotes posted their work-and-game-from-home setup with a lot of praise for a slick new display. It’s the monitor used mainly for work, which appears to be well-paired with the one already in place for gaming.

Beautiful new display

For their editing work and everyday use, nicknotes runs a 2019 Mac Pro with a brand new 32-inch LG UltraFine Ergo Monitor.

“I’ve had it a little over a week now and I really like it! Colors are great, it gets plenty bright, text is sharp, and the stand is suuuuuuper nice,” they wrote in reply to an enthusiastic comment.

Two commenters seemed set on getting a new Ergo display themselves.

Nicknotes went on to describe the display’s ample amount of adjustability and “really slick” cable management. And the list of improvements over his old screen is longer than that.

“It was a welcome upgrade over the older 27-inch 4K monitor I was using before,” they said. “Not to mention I can use it at full 3840 x 2160 resolution without scaling since it’s so big.

But along with the praise for the LG display comes one criticism.

“I think my only criticism is that the cables it comes with are kinda junky, but that could just be poor QC with my model. I’m using the same Monoprice cables I’ve had for years and haven’t had any issues,” they said.

Praise for peripherals

The other peripherals in play with nicknotes’ setup got some love in the comments, too. The Logitech MX series gear — an MX Keys Keyboard and an MX Master 2S Mouse — are commonplace among setups on social media for a reason, it seems.

“The build quality on Logitech’s MX for Mac line is so good. Feels really premium,” nicknotes said in a comment.

Gaming gear

To play games, nicknotes mainly uses an Microsoft  Xbox X 1 with their gaming monitor, a 24-inch LG UltraGear 1080p Gaming Monitor running at 144 hz, fast enough to handle gaming graphics display.

Rich audio for games and other applications runs through a HyperX CloudX Flight Headset or via IK Multimedia iLoud Micro Speakers.

What else is left to do?

Nicknotes considers considers the setup nearly complete. Yet there is always something left to improve, isn’t  there?

“This is pretty close to endgame for me,” nicknotes said. “I have a Grovemade felt desk pad coming next week. I’d like to upgrade the speakers to the larger iLoud MTMs at some point. And I’m planning on getting a Shure MV7 mic and Blue Compass boom arm to upgrade the audio quality on Zoom and Google Meet calls.”
