A new sci-fi comedy/drama starring the hilarious Andy Samberg is reportedly coming to Apple TV+.

The as-yet-untitled project is based on an idea by BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg. And it’s being penned by Andy Siara, who wrote the script for Samberg’s hit Hulu movie, Palm Springs.

Apple supposedly sealed the deal over the weekend after a competitive bidding process. The Hollywood Reporter says the project “drew instant interest thanks to the buzz Palm Springs is generating this awards season.”

The premise for the new Apple TV+ project hasn’t yet been made public. And it’s not clear whether this will be an original movie or a series, although the former seems likely.

There’s no director attached yet either, although one is expected to join in coming months. Ben Stiller (Zoolander) and Noah Hawley (Fargo) are producing.

Apple TV+ slate continues to grow

Between the excellent Ted Lasso and Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet, Apple TV+ is already home to two high-quality original comedies. They sit alongside the streaming service’s growing slate of exclusive movies like Greyhound and mind-blowing documentaries like Tiny World and Fireball: Visitors From Darker Worlds.

Given the success of Samberg’s Palm Springs, Hulu’s most successful original movie to date, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about this latest Apple TV+ production. Heck, it might be my most anticipated Apple TV+ project right now!
