The Apple online store just became the exclusive source of an updated version of Satechi’s foldable iPad stand. This holds a tablet at wide range of heights and viewing angles. And it makes the screen “hover” above a keyboard.

“Satechi’s Aluminum Foldable Stand elevates devices to create a workstation, whether at home or on-the-go. The stand’s adjustable and flexible hinges provide users with optimal viewing while working, gaming, video chatting, and much more,” promises Satechi.

As the stand holds a tablet above the keyboard, it invites comparison to the Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad, which does the same. But that’s a case with a built-in keyboard, while Satechi’s is a simpler but more flexible product.

There are rubber grips to safely and securely hold the tablet in either portrait or landscape mode. It’s compatible with virtually any tablet. Or the stand can be used with an iPhone.

As its name indicates, the product folds up to fit in a backpack, briefcase or purse. It comes in space grey.

Today is the Satechi foldable iPad stand launch date

Apple likes the Satechi stand enough to make it an exclusive. It went up for sale starting Wednesday on the Apple online store for $39.95.

Alternatively, the earlier version is still available. The Satechi R1 Aluminum Multi-Angle Foldable Tablet Stand is on Amazon for $34.99.
