Apple on Wednesday dropped its first holiday ad of 2020, featuring HomePod mini and rapper Tierra Whack. The two-minute video, titled “The magic of mini,” focuses on the speaker’s impressive sound quality.

HomePod mini appears to be off to a successful start, with initial stock selling out quickly. New customers in most markets must now wait until January for shipping. The device has also been met with rave reviews.

But despite the fact that most people won’t get their hands on a HomePod mini before the holidays, Apple has made its newest smart speaker, which costs just $99, the centerpiece of its first holiday ad.

HomePod mini shines in new Apple ad

“The magic of mini” features rapper Tierra Whack walking home in a rather melancholy mood while listening to AirPods Pro. Her mood soon changes when she gets home and asks Siri to play her music.

Whack’s full-size HomePod then transforms into a HomePod mini, but the sound of her music gets even louder. “Turn up the holidays with HomePod mini,” the ad says. “A little joy never sounded so big.”

As it has with the original HomePod, Apple has made sound quality a primary selling point of HomePod mini. Its small form factor promises “room-filling” audio from a full-range driver and dual passive radiators.

HomePod mini also has the ability to tune your music in real-time, and four built-in microphones for far-field Siri support. It’s compatible with AirPlay, and can be paired with another HomePod mini for stereo sound.

You can order yours from the Apple Store, with shipping currently set at 2-5 weeks in the U.S. (depending on your color choice), and for early January in much of Europe.
