Allan Hagen is a New York-based professional magician and amateur photographer with a serious setup. His favorite part of the setup is the big, stunning Antoccino Desk by RH Modern, which helps him concentrate.
“A big desk with a fairly minimalist setup really lends itself to focusing on the tasks at hand,” he said.

Hagen’s 49-inch LG UltraWide Curved Monitor is obviously the main attraction of the rig. Hagen and his fiancee share the space and he finds the mega amount of screen real estate “really good for productivity.” His main qualm with the UltraWide is that it’s not super-high resolution. But the sheer amount of screen real estate it brings makes up for it.
Powering the setup is a 16-inch MacBook Pro. Hagen and his fiancee both plug in their respective MacBooks when using the setup. She tends to use it during daytime office hours (she is a Creative Director for a media-tech company).
“During the day you’ll typically find me at our kitchen island with my MacBook,” he explained.
Meanwhile he uses the rig for photo editing and on projects “where the big screen and desk space help.”
Fittingly, the magician uses a Magic Mouse and Keyboard combo. He avoids desk speakers altogether. Instead he uses his trusty Bose QuietComfort 35 II headphones. They might not be as flashy as the AirPods Max but cost nearly half the price.
He also uses his iPad Pro for photo editing and his Apple Pencil comes in handy.
This photographer is always strapped with cameras and Hard Drives. From left to right, he has a Leica M6 TT, Hasseblad 501C, and a Leica Q. He has a stack of LaCie hard drives, lead by the Rugged SSD on top which he calls “blazing fast.”
