As rumored, Apple’s iPad Air 4 is now available for preorder on the Apple Online Store. The fourth-gen iPad Air was shown off by Apple at last month’s “Time Flies” event, but Apple declined to announce a preorder date — beyond simply “October.”

Because both the iPad Air 4 and new iPhone 12 handsets feature Apple’s A14 chip, Apple reportedly wanted to hold back the iPad Air 4 until the first iPhone 12 handsets were available to preorder.

Along with the new A14 chip, the iPad Air 4 comes with a larger screen than its predecessor. At 10.9-inches, it’s only a fraction smaller than the 11-inch iPad Pro. It also uses the USB-C port, much like the iPad Pro series. Plus, there’s a Touch ID sensor built into the power button to make up for the lack of a Home button for it to be built into.

The iPad Air 4 is available in Space Grey, Silver, Gold, Green and Blue color options. It starts at $599 for the 64GB version. This is also available in monthly installments of $49.91. The 256GB version, meanwhile, retails for $749. Apple had not previously revealed this price. It works out as $62.41 per month.

The iPad Air 4 will ship to customers starting on October 23. That is the same date as the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, both of which were made available for preorder today.
