Mac users can update their computer on Thursday with macOS Catalina 10.15.7. It’s important for anyone who’s noticed their computer not connecting to Wi-Fi like it ought to. There are no new features.

This might be the last Catalina version before the big macOS Big Sur upgrade gets introduced.

Apple’s full release notes for macOS Catalina 10.15.7

Apple listed the important changes made in this update.

macOS Catalina 10.15.7 provides important security updates and bug fixes for your Mac.

    • Resolve an issue where macOS would not automatically connect to Wi-Fi networks
    • Fixes an issue that could prevent files syncing through iCloud Drive
    • Addresses a graphic issue that may occur on iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020) with Radeon Pro 5700 XT

How to update your Mac

The macOS upgrade process is quite simple. One option is via Software Update: Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Software Update. Alternatively, go to the macOS Catalina page on the App Store. Then click the Get button or iCloud download icon.

Once you download it, just hit the update button and your Mac will take you through the rest of the process to install macOS Catalina 10.15.7.

macOS Big Sur isn’t too far away

While Apple is still releasing tweaks of macOS Catalina, its replacement is right around the bend. macOS Big Sur was unveiled in June, and has been in beta testing ever since. Previous Mac updates have been introduced in early October or late September in the past several years, and the 2020 version seems to be on schedule for some time in October. The most recent beta came out Sept. 22, and it wasn‘t the Golden Master.

Users should expect a big design overhaul in the next iteration of macOS, which is version 11.
