Plex began offering 80+ free channels of live TV on Thursday. The service is available on many types of Apple devices, and offers children’s programming, news, lifestyle shows and even sports.

There’s a catch, of course. There always is. In this case, it’s commercials. Plex Live TV is supported by advertising.

Highlights of Plex Live TV

Plex chose a collection of channels for a broad audience. “Whether you’re thirsty for courtroom television, or behind the scenes of Hollywood, or stand-up comedy, romance, queer cinema, Plex has got a streaming channel for you,” the company promises.

Younger viewers can enjoy Kidoodle TV, Monster Kids, KidsFlix, Squad, Toon Goggles, and Toon Goggles Jr. Slightly older kids can watch anime on CONtv Anime and RetroCrush.

Grownups can learn from Reuters and Yahoo Finance. Or become a better cook on Tastemade or Cooking Panda.

When it’s time to relax there are many movie options on Electric Now, Maverick Black Cinema, The Archive, The Film Detective, Midnight Pulp and Gravitas Movies.

These channels are on top of the 14,000 free movies, documentaries and TV shows available through Plex on demand.

Widely available

Plex Live TV is viewable on iPhone and iPad via an update to the free Plex application on the App Store. There’s also an Apple TV version.

Plus, the service supports Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Android and Roku.
