Sling TV streaming video service is now available during primetime at no charge. New customers can watch every night from 5 pm to midnight for free.
The company hopes this will help American families staying home during the COVID-19 crisis.
Free Sling TV makes for an extended happy hour
Sling TV calls this Happy Hour Across America. “Since we can’t serve you a beverage or basket of hot wings, we’re introducing a new kind of happy hour – TV ‘on the house’ every night,” said Warren Schlichting, group president, Sling TV, in a statement.
New customers get free access to the Sling Blue service, which offers more than 50 live channels, including: A&E, AMC, Bravo, CNN, E!, FOX News, FX, HGTV, HLN, MSNBC, TLC and more.
Plus, it comes with a free cloud DVR and over 50,000 on-demand titles. It can be watched on up to three screens at the same time.
To sign up for Happy Hour Across America, visit sling.com/deals/happy-hour. It’s necessary to create an account — but not give this company a credit card — to take advantage of this offer.
Sling TV did not say how long it will continue to give away free streaming video service.
More free content
And there are plenty of other no-cost entertainment options for people self isolating from the coronavirus. For example, many original Apple TV+ shows and movies are now available for free to anyone with an Apple ID.
Also, the cable channel Epix is available free through the Apple TV app. And HBO is offering hundreds of hours of free content, too.
