Mac users are venting in online forums about frequent system crashes that began after they updated to macOS Catalina 10.15.4.

The crash reports are popping up on a number of online forums with most saying kernel panics seem to happen after attempting large file transfers.

MacRumors reported on the problems after it noticed the issue raised on its forum page. Other Mac users have complained in the Apple Support Communities, Twitter, Reddit and SoftRAID.

“I can consistently produce a panic when I drag a 1TB folder from an external USB volume to my Raid 5 in Finder,” zcutlip wrote on SoftRAID.

SoftRAID said the issue is a bug and has been in contact with Apple engineers for a fix or workaround, MacRumors said.

Others running the updated macOS said they’ve experienced random restarts from kernel panic. Others said waking their machines also causes crashes.

“Ever since I installed macOS 10.15.4 on my 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro, almost every time I wake up my computer, there is a message that my computer was restarted because of problem, e.g. it crashed,” wrote u/ivanpasic on Reddit. “I did a fresh install of the OS and this is still happening.”

Apple released macOS 10.15.4 on March 24.
