No longer receiving App Store and iTunes receipts? You’re not alone.

Some Apple customers have stopped receiving email receipts for their App Store and iTunes transactions.

The issue appears to have arisen in late October, and it affects all purchases made through Apple’s digital storefronts — including subscriptions. But there is a way you can request receipts manually.

Apple typically sends you an email every time it charges you for digital content. You can specify that you don’t want to receive them, but by default, we all get them. At least, that’s how it should work.

A growing number of Apple customers say that’s no longer the case. Some haven’t received a single App Store or iTunes receipt since the end of October.

App Store and iTunes receipts go AWOL

“I get the confirmation email of purchase but although the email address is correct I don’t receive the receipt by email after several days,” writes one user on the Apple Communities forum.

“Same with me,” adds another. “It started on or about November 1st, 2019. The receipt emails stopped coming for my iTunes purchases; iBooks, iCloud storage, apps, movies, TV shows, etc.”

Cult of Mac’s own Charlie Sorrel is experiencing the same issue. He hasn’t received a receipt from Apple since October 26. I don’t appear to have missed any of mine yet.

Apple told one user the problem is at their end — specifically with the user’s mail account. But given that it affects so many people with so many devices, that’s clearly not the case here.

You can request receipts manually

Apple will likely investigate this further as the list of complaints continues to grow. And hopefully we’ll get a fix sooner rather than later. In the meantime, you can request App Store and iTunes receipts manually.

It won’t take you long, and you’ll receive the email instantly. Here are the steps you need to follow on iOS:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name at the top, then choose iTunes & App Store.
  3. Tap your Apple ID and choose View Apple ID.
  4. Tap Purchase History.
  5. Find the item you need a receipt for, then tap Total Billed.
  6. Tap the Resend button.

And on Mac:

  1. Open iTunes or the Music app.
  2. Click Account in the menubar, then choose View My Account…
  3. Scroll down to Purchase History, then click See All.
  4. Find the item you need a receipt for, then click the Order ID.
  5. Click the Resend button.
