You’ve hung on until Black Friday, ordered your long-awaited Apple Watch online, and get it sent to your office, proudly opening it up in front of your colleagues. What could go wrong? Well, it could turn out to be a toilet plunger instead.
This unfortunate scenario befell one U.K. Amazon customer. He scored a 100 British pounds ($130) discount on an Apple Watch Series 4. Only it turned out not to be such a great deal when he finally received his package.
According to U.K. free paper Metro, 31-year-old sales director John Browne opened his “Apple Watch” in his central London office in front of colleagues.
“It was a pre-Christmas treat for myself and I have wanted one for a long time,” he said. When the Apple Watch toilet plunger mix-up was revealed, his colleagues “howled with laughter” at the black-and-white plunger.
“They were all in absolute hysterics, but I was fuming,” Browne said.
He spent “several hours” on the phone to customer services, and eventually received his money back. Unfortunately, the Apple Watch he wanted was out of stock by that point.
You’ve got to think the guy who ordered a toilet plunger and received an Apple Watch has to be pretty happy, though! (Yes, I know this last point almost certainly didn’t happen.)
