Shopify customers can reach out to business owners with the Messages app on their iPhone or Mac thanks to integration with Apple Business Chat. It’s even possible to make purchases via these text messages.

The goal of Apple Business Chat is to make it easy exchange messages with companies. It can be done on any iPhone, iPad, Mac or even Apple Watch.

Unlike regular texts, this system protects the user’s privacy.  The official description points out to customers “Only you can start a conversation. And when you do, the company can’t see personal information, like your name or phone number, unless you choose to share it.”

Shopify’s Messages integration

With the help of Apple Business Chat, Shopify shoppers can get product information during conversations and then securely pay for products with Apple Pay within the chat.

“We know that customers who engage in a conversation with a brand are nearly three times as likely to complete a purchase,” note Shopify in a blog post. “Live chat also creates a personal connection between a brand and the customer which builds trust and makes them more likely to come back.”

If they wish, business owners can add a Messages button will be featured on every page of their Shopify online store. The conversations will be managed through Ping, a communication and marketing mobile app created by
Shopify.

Using Apple Business Chat doesn’t cost shoppers anything of course, and it’s also free to Shopify merchants globally.
