Actress Jane Krakowski, perhaps best known for starring in Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and NBC’s 30 Rock, has reportedly signed on to join an Apple original TV series.

Krakowski will join the cast in Apple’s Dickinson series, a comedic look at the world of 19th century poet Emily Dickinson.

The Edge of Seventeen actress Hailee Steinfeld will star in the series’ title role. Jane Krakowski is set to play Emily Dickinson’s mother in the series, which Apple ordered back in May.

The series will consist of half-hour episodes. It’s being written by Alena Smith, who will also act as an executive producer. Smith was previously a writer and co-producer on Showtime’s The Affair, and worked as a writer on the HBO series The Newsroom.

Apple’s original content initiative

Apple currently has upwards of 20 original series in various stages of development, spanning a broad range of genres. So far, Cupertino has roped in some pretty impressive and well-known names for its production efforts, including Damien Chazelle, J.J. Abrams, M. Night Shyamalan and Steven Spielberg.

The company has yet to reveal how it plans to show these original series, although perhaps next month’s iPhone event will shed a bit of light on things.
