If you’re an iPhone owner who’s opted for one of Amazon’s Echo smart speakers over Apple’s own HomePod, there’s some good news: Amazon is finally adding voice control to its iOS Alexa app.

The feature, which arrived for Android users back in January, means that it’s possible to interact with your Amazon-branded smart speaker by talking to your iPhone or iPad. That lets you control smart home devices, make web searches, use Alexa Skills, play music, or do anything else you can achieve with your Echo.

The feature isn’t quite as good as Android’s since Apple’s locked-down operating system for iPhone and iPad means that you can’t set Alexa as your default voice assistant. Android users got this ability last month. Still, having to open the app and tap a button isn’t exactly a hardship!

The update is set to roll out for iOS users in the App Store over the next few days. You can download the iOS Alexa app for free from the App Store.
