Today is World Emoji Day, and to celebrate humankind’s successful reduction of language into 2,000+ tiny pictograms, Apple has shared images of some of the new emoji coming to iOS, macOS and watchOS later this year.

Oh, and it’s launched a pretty awesomely creative promotion in iTunes as well!

New emojis coming soon

Adding to the thousands already available on Apple devices, new emoji include Woman with Headscarf, Bearded Person and Breastfeeding, as well as clothing items such as Sandwich and Coconut. Apple’s even throwing in some mythical creatures like Zombie, Elf, and Socially Well-Adjusted Android Fanboy. (We’re just kidding about that last one!)

The emoji Apple previewed today were all part of the Unicode 10 standard released back in June, bringing the total number of emoji up to a devilish 2,666.

Apple’s also marking the day by switching up the App Store to highlight apps that involve emojis, as well as doing a pretty awesomely creative campaign in the iTunes Movie store, changing the names of various famous movies to emoji representations. See if you can guess the ones below. (Answers at the bottom of the page.)
