Apple has added a new “Mother’s Day Challenge” for the Apple Watch, rewarding anyone who can complete a walk, run or wheelchair workout of one mile or more.

Those who complete the challenge get an addition badge in the Activity app, alongside new stickers they can us in Messages, to casually show off among their friends.

The achievement is unlockable in the Apple Watch Workout app, or else any third-party app which writes workout data to HealthKit. It celebrates Mother’s Day, which is celebrated in the United States this Sunday.

Close The Rings

Apple has been pushing the fitness aspect of Apple Watch very strongly recently. During a recent interview, Tim Cook said the Apple Watch had personally helped him lose 30 pounds, while Apple has additionally debuted “Close The Rings” ads designed to promote the Apple Watch’s gamified fitness functions.

To keep Apple Watch challenges feeling current, Apple has been launching various holiday-timed achievements, such as an Earth Day challenge, a “Ring in the New Year” challenge, and one to mark last year’s Thanksgiving holiday. In all cases, people who complete the challenges are rewarded with badges and other goodies like sticker packs.

Internally, Apple has taken things even further. At present, the company is pushing Apple Watch adoption among its corporate and retail employees with a “Close The Rings” challenge, offering physical badges and T-shirts.

All of this promotion seems to be working, too, since during Apple’s most recent quarterly earnings it was revealed that the Other Products category, to which Apple Watch belongs, jumped 31 percent compared to last year.
