Apple has signed Hollywood superstar Gwyneth Paltrow to join its unscripted series ‘Planet of the Apps’.

Paltrow will be joined by will.i.am and serial entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk on the show where all three will serve as mentors and advisors to app developers in the series that will reportedly act as a launch pad to exceptional developers.

The show will be executive produced by Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens of Biggest Loser fame. Gwyneth is also listed as an executive producer, as is will.i.am, even though all of his tech launches have been disastrous.

Gwyneth might not have any coding skills, but says her experience building brands built off her Hollywood status will be valuable to software engineers making the next generation of great apps.

“Developing and launching a business based on your own original idea can be exhilarating, but intimidating,” said Paltrow in a statement. “This is a great opportunity to be part of a series that lets us use our experiences to help app developers break through and create viable businesses that will impact peoples’ lives.”

Apple posted an opening casting call for developers to submit their app ideas for the show. The company is looking to find up to 100 potential participants by hosting events in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin and New York.

Online applications to the show are due by August 26th and Will.i.am is so stoked to help developers make apps that are as equally epic as his expensive iPhone 4 camera attachment that no one bought.

“As tech drives modern pop culture now more than ever, we are giving a platform for the next generation of culture makers to shine,” said will.i.am. “We are searching for entrepreneurs with the vision to shape the future, solve real problems and inspire change within our daily lives.”
