After Apple brings an OLED touch pad to the MacBook Pro later this year, the feature is likely to make its way to other notebooks — and maybe even the Magic Keyboard. This awesome new concept video imagines what that might look like.

An OLED touch bar is by far the hottest rumor surrounding the 2016 MacBook Pro. A reliable analyst promised it was coming in late May, while leaked spy photos obtained by Cult of Mac all but confirm Apple’s plans.

I’ve already waffled on about why the MacBook Pro needs an OLED touch bar, and other concepts have given us a glimpse at what kind of functionality it could bring. The latest imagines the same touch bar on the Magic Keyboard.

The touch bar can be just as powerful on Apple’s standalone keyboard as it is in its notebooks. With shortcuts to your favorite apps, instant controls for media playback, and buttons for common tools, it seems like the perfect keyboard upgrade.

By putting an OLED touch bar in the Magic Keyboard, too, Apple serves those who use a desktop Mac, and those who connect a monitor and external peripherals to a MacBook and use it just like a desktop when they’re in the office.

The only problem Apple would have to overcome is the massive impact an OLED touch bar would have on the Magic Keyboard’s battery life.
