Google is already helping you with everyday tasks on your smartphone, and now it’s coming to your home. With the new Google Home speaker, you get an intelligent digital assistant that’s there for you whenever you need it — and you’ll be amazed at what it can do.

Amazon Alexa has already blown us away by showing us how useful digital assistants can be in the home or at the office, but Google wants your next one to be even more powerful. Google Home puts the new Google Assistant at your fingertips whenever you need it.

Using only your voice, you can ask Google Home all the questions you need answers to, what’s on your calendar for the day ahead, what the traffic’s like on your route to work, and more. It can also play your music for you, and send messages to your friends.

Google has been working to make its new Assistant more conversational than its rivals, so it’s friendlier and more useful. So when you ask questions like, “When was Steph Curry born?” you can follow up with questions like, “which college did he go to?” without repeating his name.

Google Home is also a hub for all the other smart devices around your house. So with simple commands, you can get home to turn out the lights or change their color, to open the garage, and to turn up the heat. It can even send YouTube videos and other content to your TV.

Google Home will be available later this year, and Google promises it will tell us more before then. In the meantime, you can register your interest in the device now.
