It may not be quite the 8K iMac rumored earlier this summer, but Apple is set to refresh its iMac lineup this quarter with faster processors and improved displays, according to ever-reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Specific improvements to the display will reportedly focus on increased color saturation thanks to a new LED phosphor material called “KSF.”
As for the processors, they are likely to be Intel’s Skylake processors we’ve heard about for some time now.
Kuo didn’t shed any light on whether Apple will finally introduce a 21.5-inch Retina iMac this quarter, but taken in conjunction with Apple’s Back to School promotion, the respected Apple analyst thinks the new iMacs will further boost Mac sales in coming months.
Consider Apple’s continuing defiance of the ailing PC industry’s trends with its Mac sales, perhaps that’s the most impressive bit of all.

One response to “iMac with faster processor, improved display coming this quarter”
What do you want to see in the next iMac refresh? Here’s my wish list:
1. Intel Skylake processors
2. USB Type C and Thunderbolt 3 ports
3. Redesigned stand with height adjustment
4. SD cart slot returned to the side for convenience (rear is impractical)
5. Bluetooth EXTENDED keyboard with black keys and LED backlighting, paired with a new aluminum and black Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad with Force Touch
6. Lower priced, higher capacity SSD
7. Overall redesign or color options to match latest MacBooks – Silver, Gold and Space Gray
