Alongside its fancy new MacBook Pros, Apple is new selling a fancy new external GPU for anyone who needs extra graphics processing power for their MacBook.

Created in partnership with film and broadcast company Blackmagic, the Blackmagic eGPU is a $699 powerhouse standalone unit that comprises an MD Radeon Pro 580 graphics card with 8GB of DDR5 RAM.

“Get desktop-class graphics performance on your MacBook Pro with the Blackmagic eGPU,” Apple notes on its website. “Featuring the Radeon Pro 580 graphics processor, the Blackmagic eGPU is built to make any Mac with Thunderbolt 3 ports a graphics powerhouse. Enjoy supersmooth gaming, accelerate graphics-intensive pro app workflows, and enable VR experiences or content creation. Built-in I/O connections drive a Thunderbolt 3 display, support multiple accessories, and charge your MacBook Pro at the same time.”

It promises to give users 2.8x faster graphics performance on the new 15-inch MacBook Pro and a whopping 8x faster on the 13-inch.

Whether you’re someone doing serious post-production work, want to make your MacBook VR ready, or simply just want to play games with the best rig available, this is a tremendous addition to Apple’s portable Mac line.

The Blackmagic eGPU is available right now for $699, exclusively from Apple. It ships with the necessary Thunderbolt 3 Cable.
