Facebook updates are easier than ever thanks to 3D Touch

Facebook is killing your battery.
Yay for 3D Touch!

Facebook has just updated its official iOS app, adding some new iPhone 6s-friendly features designed to work with the new handsets’ 3D Touch capabilities.

What exactly does that mean? Essentially that you can now use 3D Touch’s “Quick Actions” from the Facebook app icon. Give your iPhone 6s a firm press on the Home screen and you get the option of writing a post, uploading a photo or video, or taking a photo or video.

It’s a pretty neat addition which cuts down the amount of time it takes to post to Facebook — leaving you with longer to spend Facebook stalking your friends, many of whom won’t be lucky enough to own an iPhone 6s.

This isn’t the first time Facebook has updated one of its apps to fit with 3D Touch. Instagram, which Facebook acquired back in 2012 for $1 billion, was updated for 3D Touch earlier this month. Among the improvements was the ability to peek at photos and profile info.

You can check out a list of the best 3D Touch-updated apps here, and download Facebook’s official app here.

My biggest question in all of this, though, is why Facebook can’t release proper developer notes for all its upgrades. Does it really want every new feature to be discovered as the result of trial and error?
