iTunes 11 Gets First Update With “Show Duplicate Items” And Bug Fixes

Apple released iTunes 11 about two weeks ago, and now the software’s first update has been released in the Mac App Store. iTunes 11.0.1 brings back the ability to find duplicate items in a library. Apple excluded the feature in the first version of iTunes 11, but the company promised to add it back in a future update.

Besides the ability to display duplicates, Apple has included some bug fixes for iTunes Match, AirPlay and multiple stability improvements.

From Apple:

This update to the new iTunes addresses an issue where new purchases in iCloud may not appear in your library if iTunes Match is turned on, makes iTunes more responsive when searching a large library, fixes a problem where the AirPlay button may not appear as expected, and adds the ability to display duplicate items within your library. This update also includes other important stability and performance improvements.

The update clocks in at about 200MB and can be downloaded for free in the Mac App Store. Make sure to check out our original review of iTunes 11 if you haven’t already. We also have an ultimate list of tips and tricks.

“Show Duplicate Items” is now located under the “View” menu:

I’m hoping that at some point Apple decides iTunes isn’t ‘broken’, so they stop ‘fixing it’. The ‘Tips and Tricks’ blog entries surely do help, thank you.
