The popular jailbreak tweak vWallpaper has received a pretty significant update that finally brings live home screen wallpapers to iPhones running Apple’s latest iOS 5 software.

vWallpaper version 2 is the “go-to package” for adding live wallpapers to your iPhone, according to AppAdvice, and it’s even better now that it works under iOS 5. Live wallpapers are a feature Apple is yet to officially introduce to its mobile operating system, but it’s incredibly popular with users of Google’s Android OS.

Despite hitting version 2, vWallpaper is still in its beta stage, AppAdvice says, and could still kill your battery:

… because of the nature of the tweak, users have often found that enabling live wallpapers on their iPhone has resulted in dramatically decreased battery life.

It’s unclear whether version 2 of the tweak is any better for your battery life, so you may want to keep an eye on it if you’re using it for the first time. The free tweak is available to download now from Cydia.
