Having missed its traditional annual refresh date back in June, we’ve been anticipating Apple’s iPhone 5 ever since. It has been widely rumored that the device will finally be unveiled at some point this month, but according to one report, we’ll hear nothing from the Cupertino company until early October.

October 4 to be precise, according to AllThingsD, who cites sources “close to the situation.” However, this may not come as a surprise to many of you who have been keeping a close eye on the latest news surrounding the iPhone 5, with Apple still yet to issue any invites to its upcoming press event.

During its unveiling on October 4, Apple is expected to announce that the iPhone 5 will be available “within a few weeks,” which would point to a mid-October launch. Although the company was expected to announce the device this month, a mid-October launch date has been a common expectation in recent rumors.

AllThingsD also notes that the event won’t just be special because of the iPhone 5 announcement, but also because it will be newly appointed CEO Tim Cook’s first major product announcement for the company.

Is it October 4 yet?
