Mark your calendars: the next iPhone will be revealed sometime between June 5th and June 9th, 2011, as Apple has already booked those dates at the Moscone Center in San Francisco for this year’s WWDC.

Although the Moscone Center’s website officially lists the early June event name as a “Corporate Meeting,” this anonymous description is usually deployed by Moscone Center management to refer to Apple events.

Apple’s next iPhone is traditionally announced at each year’s WWDC event held at the Moscone Center sometime in June.

If the 2010 Worldwide Developers Conference was centered on the iPhone and iPad, could next year’s gathering by Apple focus on the Mac? That’s the implication made Friday by one report. Apple is now seeking help to build “a revolutionary new feature” within the core of Mac OS X, the Cupertino, Calif. company writes in a job posting.

While the Mac OS X was mostly overlooked at this year’s WWDC in San Francisco, that could change next year as Apple continues to battle Google for the consumer tech spotlight.

Are you impressed by the living, breathing Wall o’ Apps on display by Apple at WWDC every year? Polish developer iApp has created a desktop simulacrum of the App Wall in the form of the AppWall screensaver.

It doesn’t work precisely like the real App Wall, in that the icons aren’t pulled from real-time purchases, but rather pulls icons from the top free or paid apps, but it’s still pretty swank. Even better, it’s free!

Chinese Developer Gets Mugged For iPad At WWDC, But Apple Makes Things Right

This is a heartwarming story: a developer of China’s most popular instant messaging client, TenCent, was invited by Apple to come to WWDC, only to be mugged upon arrival in San Francisco for his iPad. He managed to escape with just a few bruises, but his iPad was shattered. Luckily, a local Apple Genius took sympathy on him and offered to replace the iPad… and to end things on the perfect note, when the developer wrote Steve Jobs to praise the Apple Store’s great customer service, he got a nice note back wishing him a safe voyage home.

What exactly happened to cause the WWDC WiFi Meltdown during Steve Jobs’ keynote? Does Apple just not know how to set up a Time Capsule or what?

As it turns out, the problem was just what Apple said it was: too many 3G and MiFi devices. Over on the Future Tense blog, Glenn Fleishman has a very clear explanation of what happened and why.

Video of the Day: Apple History Tour at BoxTone WWDC 2010 Party

The Cult of Mac team had a rollicking good time at BoxTone’s iNSpired party, checking out the machines and chatting to devs.

There were about 20 Apple machines on show, from the Apple I to the iMac. The best part, they were working machines — something the organizers probably regretted with a room full of people intent on playing with them while downing beer and inhaling scrumptious mini-sandwiches.

We start with Wendell Sander, Apple employee no. 16, who fires up his Apple I for a memory dump using an iPod.

“Dudes Who Like Porn” Pwn iPad Ads at WWDC

Steve Jobs says the iPad offers “freedom from porn.”

Some dudes say you can put that freedom where the sun don’t shine, Steve.

And to that end, these self-described “dudes” pwned iPad ads around Moscone center where WWDC 2010 is taking place this week.

You can see the video of their pornifying prank here.

They’ve sent a heartfelt (or maybe choose another organ) letter to Steve about it:

“You don’t want people looking at vaginas on a tablet device you named after a feminine hygiene product? Something smells fishy.”

Yuk, yuk. (Or maybe that’s just “yuck.”)
