Before there was iOS, early Apple handsets ran iPhone OS. A frequent Apple leaker apparently suggested on Thursday that the next version of this operating system will return to that classic name.

While this might seem like a seismic shift to some, if Apple really is prepping iPhone OS 14 — or perhaps iPhoneOS 14 — it’ll simply be using the same pattern for this operating systems as it does for all its others.

WWDC 2020 Apple has posted the YouTube live stream link that will allow viewers to tune in to its WWDC 2020 keynote next week.

The June 22 event will kick off at 10 a.m. Pacific, streaming directly from Apple Park. This is the second time Apple has streamed a special event on YouTube, following last year’s iPhone unveiling.

WWDC 2020 The Apple Developer app is the one-stop-shop for all the information devs need, but until now there’ve only been versions for iPhone and iPad. On Monday, the company finally brought out a version for Mac. This guide to the 2020 Worldwide Developers Conference comes a week before WWDC kicks off.

And while this event will be entirely online, Apple is sending out press invites anyway.

In case you’re still not convinced you need an Apple Watch to go with your iPhone, Apple on Tuesday published a new webpage that reminds visitors how powerful the two can be together.

The page highlights some of Apple Watch’s best features, like the ability to take calls, reply to messages, act as a remote for iPhone’s camera, and its ability to track your heart rate and all your workouts.

911 services in a suburb of Phoenix reportedly received a call from a computer-generated voice telling them someone had fallen and wasn’t responding. The call came from an Apple Watch that detected its wearer was in trouble. EMTs rushed to the location given by the wearable and found an unconscious man.

Automatically calling for help after a bad fall is a feature of recent watchOS models. But users need be sure Apple Watch fall detection is activated.

Apple released iOS 13.5.1 on Monday, along with an iPad equivalent, bringing “important security updates” to its mobile operating systems. The speed of their introduction suggests anyone running the latest version on their iPhone or iPad should upgrade ASAP.

Also Monday, Apple dropped Small updates for Mac, Apple Watch and HomePod. Plus the latest beta versions of iOS and iPadOS for developers.

Possible Apple Watch Leather Loop strap shows up online

The Apple Watch Leather Loop strap could be getting a redesign for this year’s Apple Watch Series 6. According to images posted to Reddit on Wednesday, the redesigned bands will come in (at least) black, blue, red and brown color options.

Unlike the existing Leather Loop straps, the new ones appear to have an additional accent color that runs down the edge of certain straps. It’s definitely a nice touch, design-wise — although there’s no guarantee that these are legit.
