Apple Watch will be king until at least 2022

Apple is likely to remain the biggest player in the smartwatch category, a new report from analysts at IDC suggests.

The firm suggests that the overall wearables category is set to reach 125.3 million units this year, of which smartwatches represent around half. By 2022, IDC thinks that 189.9 million wearables will be sold. That’s growth that surpasses either the smartphone or the PC.

Cult of Mac Year in Review 2018 2018 was a rollercoaster year for Apple — with incredible highs, massive dips, and probably an executive or two throwing up along the way.

Apple became the first $1 trillion public company in U.S. history, unleashed some amazing new products, and pulled in record amounts of cash. But it also faced lows, from the iPhone-throttling controversy to a tanking stock price at the end of the year.

Developers received a fresh batch of new beta updates this morning, just in time for the holidays.

iOS 12.1.2 beta 1 was made available today, bringing a host of new fixes and improvements to the iPhone and iPad. Apple also came out with the first betas of macOS Mojave 10.14.3, watchOS 5.1.3 and tvOS 12.1.2.

Apple rolls out fourth macOS 10.14.2 beta

Registered developers can now get their hands on Apple’s fourth macOS 10.14.2 beta.

It comes just two weeks after the release of the third beta, and it focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements. It doesn’t look like Apple has made any significant changes in this release.

Once you go to iOS 12.1 you’ll never go back

If you’ve moved to iOS 12.1, it’s no longer possible to go back to any previous version. Not that there’s much reason to.

As of today, you can’t install iOS 12.0.1 or earlier on an iPhone or iPad. This in-line with Apple’s standard practices.

Grab the new iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS ‘bug fix’ betas

The public just got their hands on the third beta of iOS 12.1.1, which developers were able to access to this morning. This doesn’t bring new features, but makes some tweaks.

Developers can also download macOS 10.12.2 beta 3, tvOS 12.1.1 beta 3, and watchOS 5.2.1 beta 2.

Developers and the public just got their hands on the second betas of iOS 12.1.1 and tvOS12.1.1.  Not to be left out, macOS 10.12.2 beta is also available to everyone.

In addition, developers got their vey first gander at watchOS 5.1.2.

Apple rolled out a watchOS 5.1.1 update this week to address an issue that caused some Series 4 devices to enter a boot loop when upgrading to watchOS 5.1. And that’s not all the update delivered; there are also seven new complications to enjoy.
