But it’s probably not on the list of devices to expect at an anticipated Apple November product launch event.

Apple’s upcoming HomePod mini smart speaker and sixth-gen Apple TV will both function as ultra wideband base stations, according to Apple tipster Jon Prosser.

This means they will be able to track your location as you move inside your house, if you are carrying another device boasting an Apple U1 chip (like an iPhone 11 or Apple Watch Series 6).

Apple’s next-generation Apple TV could debut with an “upgraded” remote and a Find My remote feature, according to a new report from Bloomberg.

The new set-top box is also expected to be faster than previous models “for improved gaming.” But sources familiar with its development say we may not get our hands on it until next year.

Days before WWDC kicks off, Apple had shuttered its Apple Events app on tvOS, instead folding it into the Apple TV app, streamlining the process of finding and watching Monday’s keynote event.

The wording on the app confirms that, “Apple Events is now part of the Apple TV app.” Using the app, you can watch both current and past Apple special events.

While it might be far down the pecking order of best selling streaming boxes, the Apple TV and Apple TV 4K got high marks in the first quarter of this year for best picture quality speed and shortest lag time in starting videos, according to data collected from billions of sensors embedded into video applications.

The results are a clear sign of how well streaming devices and services performed in a period where more people around the world were homebound due to the coronavirus pandemic and turned to watching television en masse.

A new Apple TV 4K, powered by the company’s A12X chip from 2018’s 11-inch iPad Pro, is primed to drop any day, claims tipster Jon Prosser.

“Apple got no chill right now,” Prosser tweeted Thursday. He adds that he has not yet heard a projected date of release.
