There are plenty of screen protectors designed to keep your iPad safe from accidental bumps, but decidedly fewer that are designed to keep you safe from the harmful effects of high-energy visible (HEV) blue light.

That’s what Zagg’s newly announced InvisibleShield Glass+ VisionGuard for iPad is intended to do. Shown off at CES 2019, the CES Innovation Awards Honoree is designed to filter out harmful blue light from your device screen.

Menus on iOS. The idea is ridiculous, right? Stop hanging onto the past. iOS is all about touch, etc. What next? A mouse? Except that iOS already has plenty of menus. They’re just hidden behind hamburger buttons, and other icons.

I was skeptical too, but then I saw these amazing iOS menus from Codea developer Two Lives Left. Now I want menus in all my apps.

Made of sturdy, but soft material and boasting bright colors, the big innovation of the Case-E cases is the pair of (detachable) flexible arms sported by each case. These can be used for either standing your iPad up, using the oversized hands for balance, or wrapping them around car seats for safe viewing on the go.

It would have sounded unthinkable just a couple years ago, but long-time Apple frenemy Samsung has announced that its Smart TVs will offer iTunes Movies and TV Shows and Apple AirPlay 2 support.

Support will be baked into the new 2019 models, and made available to 2018 models via a firmware update.

The Portrait Mode in the iPhone XR and XS is hands-down amazing. In the time it take to snap a photo, the camera scans the depth of the image in front of it, and uses that data to blur the background, and make the subject pop out, sharp. But it doesn’t always work. The depth detection gets confused by glass, for example, ruining what could have been an amazing image.

Today we’re going to use and app called Focos to fix these depth glitches. Focos is an all-round focusing powerhouse of an app, recently updated to support the iPad, including the new iPads Pro. The area we’ll focus on today (sorry) is the ability to edit the depth map, and paint back in the glass or hair that the iPhone missed.

Apple is kicking off 2019 with a massive movie sale on iTunes.

A long list of titles, including Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, and The Goonies, have been reduced to just $4.99 for a limited time. Other titles, including Deadpool, Suicide Squad, and The Equalizer, are now available for $7.99.
