If Apple made a flip phone, it’d look something like this

Apple started a smartphone revolution with the introduction of the original iPhone in 2007, but despite the rise of high-powered phones, people in Japan are still clinging to their flip phones.

The closest Apple ever got to making a flip phone was the disastrous Rokr the company developed in partnership with Motorola, so concept designer Martin Hajek decided to reimagine what it would look like if Apple made a flip phone just for the Japanese market. The concept Apple flip phone comes with two screens — one for typing and another for content — as well as an obligatory lanyard and three color options.

Apple is playing off TSMC against Samsung to negotiate better prices for its A9 chips for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, according to a new report.

Competition between TSMC and Samsung to win Apple’s business has been fierce over the past year, with the conflict even going as far as a lawsuit over the alleged leaking of trade secrets.

With both companies having the 14/16nm FinFET process capacity to build A9 chips to Apple’s specifications, Apple is reportedly asking both sides to cut their prices — or potentially lose out on future business.

Looking at web logs to see which iPhones are currently being tested, a prominent mobile marketing company says there is evidence for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus — but no iPhone 6c.

Rumors about a 4-inch, low-cost iPhone 6c have been ramping up as of late, with recent reports claiming that it has been spotted in Apple’s manufacturing facilities and may even be released as early as next month. Now Fiksu’s report suggests it might not exist at all.

Apple could release the iPhone 6s, 6s Plus and 6c at the same time, claims notorious leaker Evan Blass, better known as @evleaks on Twitter.

This is the latest in a series of reports suggesting that Cupertino is looking to offer a new 4-inch iPhone “c” model — having abandoned the name and form factor when it made the jump to phablet-sized phones.

The days of iPhone sales growing year after year could be over with the iPhone 6s, claims an investment advisor for KGI — citing a stalling smartphone market in China and an underwhelming Force Touch feature as the handset’s big selling point.

The unnamed KGI analyst — who is more than likely Ming-Chi Kuo — says that Apple is likely to sell between 65 and 75 million iPhones in the last quarter of 2015, which would signal either zero or possibly even negative growth for the company.

iPhone 6s rumor season is in full swing, but we won’t have to wait much longer until Apple reveals the real deal.

A fall iPhone 6s launch event is being planned for September 9, according to a new report that also reveals other products that will share the stage with Apple’s new smartphone.

Why Verizon killing subsidized phones is good for Apple

Following the lead of other carriers, Verizon Wireless is killing subsidized phones and will streamline its data plans. New subscribers will no longer have the option to get a new iPhone subsidized when signing up for a two-year contract.

With the iPhone 6s launch likely two months away, this might sound like bad news for Apple, a company that has gotten fat off carrier-subsidized iPhones over the last eight years. But the death of subsidized iPhones could be a really good thing for Apple.

Loyal iPhone fans will argue iOS is much better than Android, but many have never even used Google’s platform. That’s proven in the hilarious video below, in which Apple fanboys are fooled into thinking Lollipop running on an iPhone is the iOS 9 update that’s coming this fall.
