Apple will now pay you a lower amount when you trade in your existing iPhone, iPad or Mac to purchase a new device.
The company regularly updates its trade-in prices for older devices as they depreciate in value over time.
A UK consumer rights advocate filed a £750m claim accusing Apple of slowing down handsets as old as the iPhone 6. This is over “Batterygate,” a controversy that first erupted way back in 2017 and has long since been settled in the U.S. and other countries.
Even so, a bad decision from five years ago has come back to haunt the company.
In a jam-packed opening keynote of WWDC22, Apple announced iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9 and macOS Ventura. However, Apple’s next-gen operating systems are not coming to all of its devices. The company is dropping support for many older iPhones, iPads and Macs this time around.
