It hasn't got a Retina display, a liquidmetal casing or LTE connectivity. But it'll keep you cool this summer.

While the real iPhone 5 probably won’t show its face until October, there is one that’s already available and it’ll keep you cool this summer. Spotted in a Taiwanese bakery, the iPhone 5 ice pop tastefully rips off Apple’s logo and its iPhone to become the perfect treat for any Apple fanboy.

Forget Flimsy Glass, The iPhone 5 Will Be Built From Liquidmetal [Rumor]

By

Liquid metal could make your next iPhone silky smooth and incredibly strong.

While it may look pretty, Apple’s decision to build the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S almost entirely out of glass means that the handset isn’t really cut out for the dings and drops that our smartphones often have to endure. But the new iPhone could be a whole lot different. Built from liquidmetal, it could be one of the strongest smartphones money can buy.

Apple is expected to announce its new iPhone later this year, most likely sometime this fall. Some expect it to be a drastic redesign compared to the iPhone 4/4S, with a larger screen and new unibody design.

Analyst Brian White from Topeka Capital Markets has dropped a note this morning, confirming these reports based upon a recent trip to China and saying that the iPhone 5 will be “the most significant iPhone upgrade” yet. He also expects that with the excitement it will bring, the iPhone 5 will push Apple’s stock to a crazy price $1,001 per-share by year’s end.

The iPhone 5 probably won't look like this... or arrive in June.

Apple broke away from its traditional June iPhone unveiling last year, delaying the iPhone 4S announcement until early October instead. The company is widely expected to do the same with the iPhone 5 — likely to be called the “new iPhone” — this year, but according to one Foxconn recruiter, it’ll arrive in June like many of its predecessors.

Alleged iPad 3 part leaks have revealed that the magnetized Smart Cover will work on the upcoming tablet, but Apple is still set to introduce an enhanced cover for the iPad 3, according to a new report. Citing a “repeatedly reliable source,” iLounge says that a new Smart Cover with a fiberglass back is coming.

On top of that, the report contradicts previous rumors saying the sixth-gen iPhone will feature an aluminum casing. Instead, Apple is said to be implementing Gorilla Glass 2 material for the next iPhone’s exterior design.

BARCELONA, MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS 2012 — If you’re looking for cans on the high-end, you can always count on Sennheiser. Their latest headphones, though, are particular nice. Don’t expect just warmed over tech: their new MM 450-X and 55-X Bluetooth headphones can pipe in some of the clearest tunes you’ll hear without a wire.

The iPad 3 Won’t Be Waterproof, But The iPhone 5 Probably Will Be [MWC 2012]

BARCELONA, MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS 2012 — Forget a bigger screen or LTE. Ask anybody who has ever dropped their iPhone in a sink, puddle or toilet what they want from the iPhone 5 and waterproofing is number one on the list.

The good news is that there are now a number of companies who are bringing to market superhydrophobic technologies that will help make the soggy iPhone or iPad a thing of the past. Don’t expect a waterproof iPad 3, but an iPhone 5 by the end of the year isn’t just possible, it’s probable.

What If The iPhone 5’s Design Was Inspired By The Magic Mouse? [Gallery]

iPhone-5-CiccareseDesign-01

Even when they are crazily off base, we’re fans of Italian conceptual studio CiccareseDesign’s work. At the very least, their mockups and renders of imaginary Apple products give some perspective to the whys and hows of the designs Jony Ive does choose.

Their latest mockup is of the forthcoming iPhone 5. What’s most interesting about the design they chose was that it is directly inspired by the Magic Mouse: not actually the worst idea for an iPhone, which like a mouse will sit in people’s hands all day. Here’s a gallery of the renders.

The iPad 3 And iPhone 5 May Feature Secret “Macroscalar” Architecture. Here’s What It Means.

Revealing some clues about the new hardware of the iPad 3 and iPhone 5, last week the US Patent & Trademark Office published an interesting trademark application from Apple for the word “Macroscalar” which many believe refers to Apple’s next generation A6 system-on-a-chip. Allowing a trademark to be revealed before its use is a move we’re not use to seeing from Apple. What the heck does a “Macroscalar” Processor do and how is it going to make your iPad 3 super insanely amazing?
