Last week a Foxconn recruiter thought he knew what he was talking about and told a reporter that Apple’s next iPhone is launching in June. However, he probably only knew as much as we do, and was just making an assumption based off Foxconn’s drive to hire 18,000 employees.

Interestingly, another employee inside of Foxconn would like to disagree with his co-worker. The head of human resources at Foxconn’s Taiyuan factory told reporters in an interview that the new iPhone is launching in October.

While we know a new iPhone is coming this year out of Cupertino, we don’t know exactly when that iPhone will launch or with what specs, but what we do know is that Apple is testing prototypes of the new iPhone in its labs. This morning, a new report sheds some information on the new iPhone that Apple is testing, along with a new iPod touch.

The likelihood of Apple significantly expanding the size of the next iPhone to make way for a bigger display is pretty laughable, but LTE seems like a lock for the next iPhone. That’s why we’ve got a good feeling about a new report that says that while the next iPhone will be truly 4G in every sense of the term, the biggest change to the overall form factor of the device will be a new micro dock connector.

Now that Apple’s brought LTE to the iPad, it seems a certainty it’ll come to the next iPhone in October as well. Lurking deep in the iOS 5.1 plist files, though, may be proof that Apple’s already building support for LTE into their mobile operating system. Or it might just be more confusion over what 4G actually means: LTE or HSPA+.

In the desktop and laptop world, computer chips tend to get smaller over time, but with the A5X, Apple has gone a different route: they’ve actually made the chip bigger than its predecessors.

How big is the A5X? Over 310 percent bigger than the A4 shipped in the iPhone 4 and original iPad.

When third-place carrier Sprint first got the iPhone 4S, it quickly became clear that they had literally bet the company on the notion that Apple’s popular handset could save them from being steamrolled by AT&T and Verizon. Experts at the Intrepidus Mobile Security Group came across some interesting parsers definitions within Google Wallet’s source code that could hint at a possible iOS release. How Google actually plans on getting Google Wallet to work on a non-NFC/SE iOS device is another story, but for now, let’s take a look at the iOS definitions found by Intrepidus.

All of these things add up to the new iPad being the best iPad yet, but it comes at a cost: they’re all more battery hungry than their predecessors. How, then, did Apple manage to get 10 hours of battery life — the same as before — out of the new iPad, while keeping it roughly the same weight and thickness?

Easy… and by easy, we mean “insanely difficult.” They increased the battery capacity by 70%… then densely packed it to fit the iPad 3’s case.

Our awesome Twitter follower @presstopher was one of the first to get iOS 5.1 downloaded on his iPhone and noticed an odd update – his AT&T iPhone 4S (that runs on the 3G network) is now lying, claiming that it is running on a 4G network. iOS 5.1 changes AT&T iPhone 4S to show that they are using a 4G network. It’s complete malarkey and we’re stunned that Apple and AT&T have made this move.

Apple VP for Worldwide Product Marketing Phil Schiller just announced the new iPad, and it features a gorgeous Retina display. Interestingly, the company didn’t go with the an A6 processor, but a dual-core A5X, as some rumors suggested. The device also sports updated cameras, with a 5-megapixel sensor on the back and 5-element lens.
