Almost nightly I scrabble around in the dark trying to find the 30-pin dock connector dangling from my desk so I can plug it onto my depleted iPad without disturbing the Lady, sleeping beside me. I say “almost” as sometimes I fall into a drunken sleep with my spectacles askew and the iPad still in my lap or – more often – the Lady refuses to sleep with me and goes to her own room.
And every time I struggle to find the plug, I wish for something like the illuminated CordLite cable.
I’ve lost count of how many “iPhone 5” images we’ve seen in the last few weeks, but until Apple unveils the device itself, it’s hard to be sure any of them are genuine. But one manufacturer is taking a huge gamble on them. He’s so convinced by these images that he’s already producing and selling cases for the sixth-generation iPhone. And if he’s wrong, he’ll replace every single one for free.
As expected, iOS 6 will be available to developers today in the first release preview. Stay tuned for our first look.
It’ll work on the iPhone 3GS and later, iPad 2 & iPad 3, and iPod touch fourth-gen.
It’s coming this fall, along with the iPhone 5.

Today at 10AM Pacific, Tim Cook will take the stage at the Moscone Center in San Francisco for Apple’s annual WWDC keynote, and if the rumor mill is to be believed, he’ll be hard pressed to fit everything Cupertino is ready to announce into its 90 minute presentation. We’re looking at massive upgrades to the entire Mac line, the official unveiling of iOS 6, loads of new apps, and maybe possibly even our first glimpse of the iPhone 5 and Apple HDTV.
Here’s what we think Apple will (and won’t) announce today, ranked in order of likelihood.
Recent rumors surrounding Apple’s next-generation iPhone have been largely focused on whether or not the device will get a bigger display and LTE connectivity, and what it will look like. But according to one analyst, we should also be talking about the handset’s front-facing camera, which is finally expected to become HD-capable for high-quality FaceTime calls.
Not only does Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster see Apple’s and its investors’ financial outlook as essentially rosy for the foreseeable future, but he’s taking it one step further. He’s convinced that he has at least ten reasons to stay bullish on Apple stock over the next three years. He also thinks the stock price is going to hit $1000 per share.

Which smartphone or tablet are you bringing to work?
With the constant stream of news emerging in the Apple versus Android battle, we think it’s time to look at which devices the IT pros are choosing, and how recent trends are affecting what devices are brought into work.
After two months of scarcity, Apple’s finally gotten its new iPad production ramped up enough to get a new iPad to you the same week you ordered one, from a Foxconn factory straight to your door in 1-3 business days. Just three weeks ago, it still took 3-5 business days for Apple to ship a new iPad to an online customer. In another three weeks, you might be able to overnight one.
Apple’s done a lot better with new iPad supply compared to the iPad 2. Not only did everyone who wanted one on launch day pretty much get one, but it took Apple about four months last year to get shipping times down to 1-3 business days, and five months to get it down to within 24 hours. Let’s hope this is a trend towards having enough supply to go around that continues with the iPhone 5.

Just as we expected, Apple has successfully claimed ownership of the iPhone5.com domain name after filing a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) earlier this month to have the domain transferred from its existing owner.
According to WIPO’s website, the case has now been terminated.
With so many contrasting rumors in recent weeks, it has been hard to predict whether or not Apple will increase the size of the display for its sixth-generation iPhone. But according to sources for The Wall Street Journal, the Cupertino company is preparing to break away from its existing 3.5-inch panels in favor of a display measuring “at least 4 inches diagonally.”
