Apple’s long-rumored AR glasses project could get some competition from the world’s biggest social network company.
Facebook is reportedly developing its own augmented reality glasses. The social network recently struck a partnership with Ray-Ban parent company Luxottica to speed the product along, according to a new report.

New subscription gaming service Apple Arcade is here1, and it looks like an incredible deal. For just $5 per month, everyone in your family gets unlimited access to dozens of exclusive games (with a free month-long trial to check it out). Even better for parents, there are no in-app purchases in Apple Arcade, so your kids won’t be begging you to buy more coins or whatever every five minutes.
However, they can still spend way too much time on games when they should be out playing with kilometer-zero, organic wooden toys, or pretending that old washing machine delivery box is a panic room. Thankfully, Apple’s own Screen Time feature already works with Apple Arcade, so you can restrict access to any and all games.
Protect your iPhone while showing it off. Photo: Totallee
This post on iPhone 11 cases is presented by Totallee.
“This is why we can’t have nice things,” someone once said, realizing they had failed to protect their nice thing. Despite being surrounded by threats — toddlers, dogs, cats, hot coffee, weather, a lack of fine motor skills — they didn’t buy the insurance. They failed to hire security personnel. They didn’t even buy a case for their not-exactly-inexpensive smartphone. Fortunately for you, Totallee already released transparent cases that will protect your new iPhone 11, 11 Pro or 11 Pro Max while showing it off. You didn’t spend all that money just to conceal your prized new gadget, did you?
Snapchat just added another dimension to photos. Photo: Snap
Snapchat just added another cool feature to distinguish it from Instagram but you’ll need to have one of the newest iPhones to use it.
A new 3D Camera Mode is rolling out to users today, allowing you to create and share images that have a 3D depth effect as you tilt your display in different directions. It’s the same feature that debuted on the newest version of Snap’s Spectacles, only now you can create them from your iPhone.
Take a look at all the possibilities 3D Camera Mode unlocks:

It will face tough competition from Netflix, Hulu and Apple TV+, but will be able to offer classics like The Office and Parks and Recreation, as well as a second reboot of Battlestar Galactica.

Apple is one of the most sought-after companies to work for, but Tim Cook isn't on a list of dream bosses. Photo: Apple
Apple is one of the most sought-after public company in the world for tech workers to want a job with. That’s according to tech recruitment site Hired‘s latest “Brand Health Report.”
Given that Apple is, well, Apple, that’s not too much of a surprise. What’s more surprising is the fact that, on Hired‘s list of tech’s most inspiring leaders, Tim Cook is nowhere to be seen!
The very first iPhone 11 reviews are out, which means it’s time to find out whether that $699+ you just spent on an upgrade was worth it. And you probably won’t be surprised to hear the results.
Apple’s most affordable iPhone this year, just like its predecessor, is a hit with critics. It is getting heaps of praise for its improved cameras, even longer battery life, and bolstered performance.
There are a few complaints, however. Find out what reviewers think of the iPhone 11 right here.
The question is: Do you really need all those pro features? Photo: Apple
There’s no question about it: The iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max are two of the best iPhones Apple ever built — and arguably the best handsets in the world right now.
That’s according to the first reviews for the devices, whose embargoes lifted this morning. All agree on the new iPhones’ excellent camera, amazing battery life, and beautiful display. But is it that much better than the regular iPhone 11? That’s where folks in our iPhone 11 Pro review roundup disagree.

Apple is adapting Paul Theroux’s popular 1981 novel The Mosquito Coast into a new Apple TV+ series.
The novel tells the story of an inventor who takes his American family to live in the Honduran jungle — with unexpected twists along the way. It was previously adapted into a Hollywood movie starring Harrison Ford. Apple’s new version will star Justin Theroux, nephew of the book’s author Paul Theroux.

Apple is reportedly spending $1 billion on growing its production capacity in India. This is part of an ongoing move away from the tariffs that will soon be levied on iPhones assembled in China.
It might also help increase Apple’s sales in India.

The Apple Store has just two USB-C hubs with multiple types of ports, and one of them is made by Satechi. This offers USB-A and HDMI ports, as well as dual memory card readers, but so do many other accessories. What makes the Aluminum USB-C Multiport Pro Adapter so good that Apple picked it from all the other USB-C hubs on the market?

Use Dashlane to double down on iPhone security. Photo: Leander Kahney/Cult of Mac
This iPhone security post is presented by Dashlane.
To say the least, Google Project Zero’s recent surprising report on the iPhone’s two-year vulnerability to website hacks dented Apple’s vaunted reputation for nearly bulletproof smartphone security.
To say the most (or something like it), this latest news of iPhone vulnerability deeply alarmed all of us. Or if it hasn’t, it should. It’s a reminder that threats are ever-present, potentially catastrophic — and not just for Android users anymore.
One of the best new features on Apple Watch Series 5 may not work well — or at all — depending on what type of band wear with your watch.
Like all compasses, the Apple Watch Series 5 compass is sensitive to magnetic interference. Cupertino warns customers on its website that some of its bands with magnetic clasps could adversely affect compass readings.
Stay away from these bands if you want your Apple Watch compass to work.
You can shoot studio portraits anywhere. Photo: Apple
Whenever I open up the For You tab in the Photos app, every single “effect suggestion” is Brighten this Portrait Photo with Studio Lighting. Every single one. I’m not even exaggerating. And I’m never interested, because Studio Lighting, along with all the other Portrait Lighting effects, is junk. Now, though, with iOS 13’s new High-Key Light Mono effect, there’s at least one Portrait Lighting effect worth using.
Here’s why High-Key Mono looks great — and how to use it.

The iPhone 11 is one of the first devices with Wi-Fi 6. Photo: Apple/Wi-Fi Alliance
An overlooked feature of the iPhone 11 series is Wi-Fi 6, a faster version of this nearly ubiquitous short-range wireless-networking standard.
And it’s not just about speed. This update is expected to offer better performance when dozens of hundreds of devices are all trying to connect to Wi-Fi at once.
