This is Siri. No, not like Siri from the iPhone. Photo: Siri Hafso
Apple’s Siri voice control system was named after a real woman in Norway. This isn’t her story.
Instead, it’s the story of Siri Hafso, an ordinary Apple fan who’s very tired of people making jokes about her name. And she asked Apple CEO Tim Cook if he can make it up to her.

It is recommended you update to macOS 11.4 as soon as possible if you haven’t already.
There's a surprising amount of space in the new iMac. Photo: iFixit
Apple’s awesome new M1 iMac finally received its obligatory teardown by the fine folks over at iFixit. You may not be surprised to learn there’s very little packed into the computer’s slender aluminum shell.
That doesn’t mean it’s not exciting. The M1 iMac is, as we’ve come to expect from Apple, an engineering marvel. It’s rather astonishing that the brilliant minds in Cupertino can squeeze so much power out of so little.
AirTag owners just got two more options for actually using their trackers. Photo: WaterField Designs
Sturdy new AirTag accessories from WaterField Designs offer up a couple of new ways to attach Apple’s trackers to keys, luggage and more. WaterField’s Leather AirTag Keychain and Leather AirTag Luggage Tag emphasize durability and stealth.
“What really sets these AirTag accessories apart is that the trackers are protected behind a layer of sumptuous leather from the scratches so many AirTag users have already complained about,” said company owner Gary Waterfield in a press release Tuesday. “And, they are hidden, so someone looking to steal a bag or suitcase won’t notice that they contain an AirTag and will be less likely to remove them.”
Chipolo One Spot offers many of the best features of Apple’s AirTag. And it’s better in other ways. Photo: Ed Hardy/Cult of Mac
The Chipolo One Spot is the strongest rival for Apple’s new AirTag. Both can access the Apple Find My network for locating lost objects. But the One Spot has better range, and is easier to attach. And there’s more.
I’ve tested both these trackers. Here’s why I prefer Chipolo’s over Apple’s.

Learning JavaScript, HTML and CSS opens doors when it comes to building websites, but these languages can be limiting in other areas. For building anything else, Python is essential in every programmer’s repertoire. When it comes to data science, software development and scripts, Python can do it all as a general-purpose coding language.

Anyone accustomed to the hefty MacBook power brick might want to sit down before they see the Anker Nano II 65W. This is far, far smaller than Apple’s wall charger, but can still put out 65 watts. The secret is gallium nitride.
Anker also introduced on Monday versions with 45W and 30W.

This setup has four monitors. How about seven, though? Photo: dm-86@Reddit
How many large displays is “overdoing it” in a computer setup? Redditor dm-86 suggested they’d gone too far with four, but that only ties one of our other favorites.
Some commenters joked around that they saw plenty of space for more in the imposing setup, or bank of screens, if you will.

Apple products have always cost a premium, but they’re also some of the best-made devices and products that you’ll find. Most of the time, at least.
9to5Mac points out that all three of Apple’s Hermès AirTag Key Rings and Luggage Tags are listed as “Currently Unavailable” on Apple’s website, regardless of which option users try to select. It also cites a reader who suggests a quality issue could be to blame.

Wouldn't it have been great if the Siri Remote featured some of Apple's smart AirTag tracking tech? Photo: Apple
Of all the items that get misplaced regularly in my home, the TV remote has got to rank up there as number one. Other items, such as keys and wallet, may have a smaller footprint, but for whatever reason it’s the TV remote which constantly winds up going MIA.
With Apple redesigning the hated Siri Remote for its 2021 Apple TV 4K, you’d think it would be the perfect time to add some kind of tracking functionality to the device. After all, Apple’s just introduced AirTag, its location-tracking smart tech which promises to help you locate those hard-to-find with impressive accuracy.
Surely Apple could have squeezed its U1 Precision Tracking tech into the revamped Siri Remote? Apparently not. And according to a somewhat cryptic comment by Tim Twerdahl, Apple’s vice president of product marketing for home and audio, it’s to do with it being too thick. Or something.
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak faces a million-dollar lawsuit for allegedly stealing the concept for his Woz U tech schools.
According to Connecticut business professor Ralph Reilly, he and Woz came up with the idea and participated in (among other things) an on-camera handshake a decade ago.
