The Zens Liberty is designed to overcome one of wireless charging’s hassles: it won’t be necessary to carefully arrange the handset on this pad thanks to its 16 charging coils.
This was one of the promises of Apple’s AirPower, but packing too many coiled into a small pad reportedly caused such such problems with excess heat that this product was eventually cancelled.
Obviously, Netherlands-based Zens is confident it can overcome these issues because it’s announced plans to release the Liberty in November. “The 16 coils will give complete freedom of placement, allowing you to place two devices anywhere on the charging pad,” this company promises.
Its 16-coil charger will be able to send up 15W to each device. However, iPhones and the AirPods wireless charging case can only receive 7.5W. Zens is also including a 2.4A USB port for powering up non-wireless computers.
The Liberty will be available in two versions. One will have a glass top to show off the charging coils. The other will be covered in woolen upholstery cloth by Kvadra.

Zens is aiming these at high-end buyers. The cloth-covered version of this wireless charger will be $139.99 / €139.99. The glass-topped one will cost $179.99 / €179.99. These prices aren’t out of line for luxury chargers — the leather-covered Courant Catch:2 is $175, for example.
