Syncing your iPhone or iPod Touch all too often takes the device entirely out of commission, but it doesn’t have to be that way: Omnio’s WOWKeys transforms your iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch or iPhone 4 into an extension of your keyboard for both the Mac and PC.
Essentially, the WOWKeys takes away your keyboard’s number pad and replaces it with an iPhone dock. It boasts fifteen hotkeys designed for iPhone or PC/Mac user: toggle a function to switch between your computer or your iPhone and those hotjkeys will control everything from music playback to volume to brightness control.
In addition, the WOWKeys allows you to load apps that will turn your iPhone — presumably through Bluetooth — into anything from a media center remote control or a multi-touch trackpad. As attached to my number pad as I am though, I can’t help but be discouraged that it won’t turn my iPhone into that while it’s docked.
The USB keyboard is a little pricy at $100, but if you’d like to make your iPhone more useful in your desktop when it’s docked, the WOWKeys looks like a winner.
