It’s been theorized for a while that Microsoft would try to ape Apple’s success with the Mac App Store when they release Windows 8, but until now, it’s just been conjecture. Now here we are, on the other side of the rumor.
Windows Live Division President Steven Sinofsky has just seemingly confirmed in a blog post that Windows 8 will come with an App Store shipped by default.
The post introduces a team of engineers who will be working on Windows 8, including an app store team, an app compatibility team and a device compatibility team.Other teams include Applications and Media Experience, as well as App Experience.
Pretty clearly, Microsoft is following Apple’s lead and making an OS that takes its inspiration from mobile and makes apps a core experience. I wonder how far Microsoft will go with the concept though.
Many people fear that Apple will eventually require apps to be delivered exclusively via the MAS; could Windows 8 beat Cupertino to that draconian punch?

Wow – how original.Â
Well, Windows 8 does look a bit sexy…….as long as you don’t go to the classic Windows mode lol. idk, they really con’t use the “Windows is familiar” line anymore because it looks way different than Windows 7. Even if there is that classic Windows mode, if people are paying for that tile mode, they’re going to want to use it because from what I’ve seen, that’s really like the biggest addition.
With Lion, I’m sure people who bought it (including myself) mostly did so because of the new touch gestures. I mean, touch is such a huge part of the OS. I’d probably say the biggest.

Just noticed I didn’t say a thing about a Windows Marketplace…..
It’s an interesting concept. There are far more application being developed for Windows and if they don’t want to lose ground on OS X when they’ve been working so hard to make Windows more user friendly, they’d better add a Windows Marketplace.
My only issue is possible fragmentation. Low-powered tablets having access to all of the applications that were designed for keyboard, mice and more powerful machines. I know keyboard and mouse support will probably be integrated on EVERY Windows 8 tablet’s, but you can’t add more power. It just seems so much more logical to have a mobile OS, specifically built for tablets on them and then full blown Windows 8 on their laptops and desktops. Idk, it only seems like Microsoft is digging a deeper whole.
I could imagine a day when Microsoft announces a “Windows Tablet” OS in the future.
I just p a i d $21.87 for an i P a d 2-64GB and my boyfriend loves his Panasonîc Lumîx GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS.I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $657 which only cost me $62.81 to buy.

It would be daft of them not to, considering this is going to be their universal operating system. I hope Windows 8 is as good as it looks, and I hope it’s cheap – I think Windows 7 Home Premium is over ÂŁ100, whereas Lion is only ÂŁ20.99. They could do with making it into just one version as well, rather than five versions – Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate.
Well to be fair Apple wasn’t first either, “App Stores” has been very popular for quite a while in the linux world…

They wanted to add online advisors, but no one could get past the giggles every time Ballmer said they needed to put together a “crash” training program.
