Kind of a let down from what you’d expect after a long long wait. But hey, at least those who bought the iPhone on this Q4 are damn lucky bastards lol..
Won’t buy it, although Siri seems sweet. I do, however, accept gifts xD
I will be buying one as I see it as a suitable jump from a 3Gs :)
why would I buy the new iPhone 4s if i have a perfectly good iPhone 4
Isn’t Siri how all sci-fi horror movies start? “What time is it, Siri?” “TIME TO DIEEEE”
For those upgrading from the 3Gs…it’s a no-brainer. However, I upgraded from the 3G to the 4…and there’s no way I’m upgrading now. I’m most definitely waiting for the iPhone 5. It kinda is making sense that everyone is really on a two-year upgrade cycle. Every time that customers are coming off of a carrier contract, the newest iPhone release is a HUGE upgrade for the customer. One year upgrades just aren’t that great most of the time. Just a thought…
Personally, I was pretty disappointed in today’s announcement. I like what one commenter called the iPhone 4s…the iPhone 4meh. :)
nope i think this was a big mistake on apples part. The iphone 5 was so hyped up and anticipated i dont think many people, unless you have an older phone will even think about buying this. its been 16 months now? and all they did was updating? How hard could it have been to add a bigger screen and the new design that everyone wishes to see? Im guessing not at all so they will probably release the iphone 5 shortly after the 4S..
No but i’ll be happy to pick up a discounted iPhone4 ;)
I might have if there was a new design. But honestly, I could wait 12 months, and get the new design, or, get the 4S, and have to wait 18+ months for the design after it, possibly skipping next generation. It seems to me, I’d rather have a new design if I have to wait 2 years between upgrades. So, I’ll be waiting.
The next iPhone will be the 6 not 5.
It will be a great upgrade from my iPhone 3g (yes 3G not 3 Gs).
I was all ready to replace my iPhone 4 with a sleek new tapered, aluminum back form factor with re-worked antennas. Hugely disappointed with today’s 4s announcement.
I have a 3GS, not going to fall for that same ol again with this 4S. I think Apple uses the “S” designation for a “Stop Gap” phone. I think Apple was more interested in sell its “integrated services than it was providing a industry leading smart phone. Huge Failure today.
No. I have a i4, Siri and 1080p video recording are nowhere near good enough reasons to upgrade.
People are always hungry for more. It’s always been like that :-D try to be in Apple’s shoes and you’ll know how it feels/what it takes to innovate.
The iPhone 4S is a pretty good upgrade–I like that Apple maintained the design, perfect especially for iPhoneographers. Bigger screen? It’s more of a want that a need.
My iPhone 3GS is all the S I need in a phone right now thank you. I wasn’t so impressed to go from my 3GS to 4, this still isn’t enough. I think I’m one of the many who learned from the first iPhone to go from every other number or generation. S’s & increments don’t count, it just seems like the S is really a stand in for .5
Since I’m a 3g owner, I’m THRILLED to get the speedy new iphone 4S. I’m happy to wait another year or two till verizon et al get dependable 4g and LTE coverage across most of the US. I’ll also wait for a larger screen if and when they can develop a battery that won’t die in 2 hours trying to run that bigger screen, run LTE and try to squeeze all that tech in a thinner case! The Iphone 4S will be a great phone till the real Iphone 5 or 6 can be properly developed and have a battery that can last more than 2 hours!
I’ll wait till some more info comes out about when the next iPhone comes out. If the 6 comes out next October, I’ll probably get the 4S because Siri seems pretty awesome but if the rumors say they’ll be another iPhone next May or June, I’ll wait

I want the iPhone 4S, but I don’t need it–partly because I rarely even use my dumbphone :-P
Personally, I’d recommend people to only buy new iOS products after 3 years/you can no longer update your iOS to the latest version.
Appreciate your good money spent on the good stuff :)
no, because.
great upgrade for 3GS owners, but a big let down for me as a iphone 4 owner. Not worth the upgrade. After 18 months i would’ve loved a new design and bigger screen.
I would, but I just picked up my iPhone 4 three months ago. Still, iOS 5 is keeping me happy from being jealous :)
Was hoping to get my first iPhone with this upgrade but think i’ll wait for the next one now cause this don’t seem worth it.
Yes I’ll be using two upgrades to get 2 of them – will be passing existing iPhone 4’s on to other users in my company.
Yes i am upgrading they made enough improvements for me to upgrade. Besides I already sold my iPhone 4
The title of the poll asks if I want to buy an “iPhone 4GS” – there is no iPhone 4GS
I’m in a new contract on a Verizon iPhone 4 from the summer so the only way I would have even considered an upgrade (which I would have had to pay full price for) is if the iPhone got a bigger screen. Assistant looks cool and the camera is a nice perk but I’m sure they will still be there when I am eligible for an upgrade next fall.
I do think all the speculation about how the lack of a iPhone5 announcement will harm Apple is silly. This 4s will continue to sell really well.
I’ll be upgrading from my 3GS, it’s now getting a bit clunky. Although a bit disappointed about from factor and screen size (should never believe the rumors) It’ll still be a great update for me. Then again I might just wait a few weeks to see what the Google Nexus has to offer.
Both my wife and I will upgrade our iPhone 4 to the 4S. I think blogs sensationalizing the iPhone 5 disappointed many of us looking for the mystical unicorn phone (which we know only Apple could deliver) but I guess we’ll have to put up with even more rumors and the iPHone 5 in a year (maybe less). I’ll upgrade then too.
I’ll be able to sell my current phone, pay the $250 upgrade and likely still come out ahead. Its not that tough.
I’m glad it doesn’t have a bigger screen – I’m not looking for a tablet in my pocket like most Android phones. 4G may have been nice, but agree its not worth having to charge at noon in order to make it through a day. That technology will be more widely available AND mature next year.
The new king of phones… not the GOD of phones we all were looking for, but the king all the same.
Siri will be hot.
I am switching to android with Nexus Prime, this announcement was seriously disappointing. In 16-17 months Apple wasn’t even able to increase the screen size what were they doing.
get with the program bro
but still u have an iphone 3g S.. ironic huh??
Sweet! That’s a lot of people not buying it. Maybe it’ll be easier to nab one this time around…
I’m not one of those who was wishing for that giant screen iPad like monstrosity everyone was talking about, but I do find this model very underwhelming and probably won’t buy one.
The thing is that it just doesn’t offer much for me as a user that I don’t already have. Faster CPU/GPU only makes a difference if you play games. Extra CDMA bands only matters if you are in the US. The better camera is nice, but still hardly worth it for the average user.
Apple ALWAYS needs to amaze EVERYONE. That’s not possible. I recall something Steve Jobs said to the Standford class of 2005. He’s commenting on when he got fired: “The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.”
I’m bigtime disappointed in the iPhone 4S. I really had my hopes up for an amazing iPhone 5, as big an upgrade as the iPhone 4 was. I am buying the iPhone 4S only because I have an upgrade and can make money on my iPhone 4 on Ebay. If I didn’t have an upgrade I wouldn’t even think about buying it though. I guess Apple’s going to get what they want from me, but I’m not happy and I know I’ll be really unhappy when the next iPhone comes out and it’s actually good (especially if it comes in July)
for every person that answered this poll there are at least 1k folks that never come near this site who could be in line to get the phone. so it might not be easier
” but I guess we’ll have to put up with even more rumors and the iPHone 5 in a year (maybe less).”
rumor has it, the book makers have already put up odds on when the first ‘source close to the matter’ will make a claim about when the next iPhone will be released. And whether the claim will be June like before, Oct like this time or something else
I will definately be buying one because I’m upgrading from something that isn’t even a smart phone. Easy decision for me. Siri sounds really cool, and the camera is a huge bonus.
I was at least hoping to see the new iPhone with a larger screen. Heck, I was even hoping to see it mimic the iPad2 regarding the use of FaceTime with 3G and not just only using wi-fi.
The had a few extra months since they were supposed to reveal this in July….
Apple has disappointed!
you hit the nail on the head (re: increase the screen size)!!!!!
…it took 3 years for us to get from the first iphone to the 4, and everything in the middle happened JUST LIKE THIS. History repeats itself.
Consider these little tidbits. First off, Apple is DOMINATING The phone market, and they HAVE NOT stopped making the 3gs. Did you really expect them to split their market into 4 different phones? No. When Foxcom or whoever reports that they have stopped making 3gs, thats when you can expect a 5.
Second, they JUST made the iphone 4 available outside of AT&T 5 months ago, which means everyone on verizon who wanted an Iphone in the last year is CURRENTLY IN A CONTRACT. They would have to pay full price, or cancel their service and re-contract (which costs allot too). Sooooo if Apple had made a 5, most of those people wouldnt buy it. Thats a large chunk of Market there.
and 3, what technological advancements do you think have been made since the 4 came out that would warrant a 5? none. Anything amazingly new right now would also make the phone cost 500-800 bucks. would you really have been happy if there was a new phone whos only real difference was a bigger screen?
… i guess thats a stupid question on my part…
Well it’s faster but for now 4 is just fine. And Siri doesn’t understand Czech last time I’ve checked.
isn’t it the iPhone 4s? where did this “G” come from?
The biggest problem for me is the 2 year shackle tying me to my current phone through Vodafone NZ.
Same reason I skipped the 3GS when it came out, the speed bump would have been nice, but the cost to exit my 3G contact early was crippling.
Now interestingly, If I boulg my phone outright, I’d still have to go on the same $80/month plan to get the 3GB data as if I pay for the subsidised phone. And it probably wont be here in NZ until December 2011 anyway, even though our Auzzie neighbours get it next week.
Not even the camera? Dude, the camera upgrade is legit… coming from a photographer, Idk why I just spent ~$1500 on my newest camera when iPhones in like 3 years will be taking the same quality pictures
I’m one as well. The camera is a nice upgrade from the iPhone 4, but not enough for me to go and upgrade. I have a dSLR, and while it’d be nice to completely replace that with a small device, the 4S isn’t that device. Besides, photography is more skill than equipment, and you can do wonders with the i4’s camera if you know what you’re doing.
