Remember all the anticipation and hype surrounding Verizon and the iPhone? Speculation morphed from ‘if’ to ‘when’ to now how much effect will adding the carrier have on Apple’s revenue picture. Now a prominent Apple watcher is writing Verizon’s launch of the iPhone 4 was ‘disappointing.’ Instead, the true test of how much oomph Verizon puts into iPhone sales may not come for months, when some expect Apple will introduce the iPhone 5.
“In some ways, we see the iPhone 5 as the true Verizon iPhone launch; the first time Verizon customers will have access to a new version of the iPhone,” writes Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster. He believes many Verizon customers stood on the sidelines, waiting for the iPhone 5 “instead of buying the mid-cycle iPhone 4.”
Earlier in the week, Munster noted the iPhone may be released in September, rather than the traditional June and July period. However, the time difference likely won’t impact Apple revenue, he suggested. That opinion was buttressed when Apple confirmed it would released a white version of the iPhone 4 this spring.
Apple may give more hints to when the iPhone 5 will appear next week when the Cupertino, Calif. company is scheduled to announce second quarter revenue.

I am one of those people. I waited to see if Apple would bring iPhone to another carrier. As a Verizon customer, I couldn’t see the logic of getting the 4 as they were announcing the 5. I mean, it’s only a matter of time.

Being an apple fan I must admit apple believes what ever they put out people are going to lineup for, I knew the iphone 4 was doomed when verizon started to changing the rules for upgrades for existing customers and some of the other crazy policies for new customers as well , they put up to many road blocks I guess they thought people would disregard those dumb rules just to say they owned an iphone well if that would of been the iphone 5 maybe oh well verizon don’t let apple change the way you do business I love apple but they appear to be very greedy so I hope this was a lesson learned
I am one also. Been waiting forever for Verizon to get the iPhone but then held off for 5 also. If I waited this long, what’s a few more months.

i waited for the iPhone in 2007, but when it came out, I thought, what’s the point, there will be a better one cheaper later…then iPhone3 came out…I thought why not wait for better version, only 12 months away? Surely, I was right, as 3gs cameout on schedule…but by then I knew what I was doing and decided to wait for the iPhone4…last April it was clear that iPhone5, only 12 months away, would be much better, so smart me, I am still waiting for my iphone…

I think that adding carriers is a part of broadening the profit scope of apples iphone, and that the individual performance of carriers is less important as long as apple can keep a high price point. I have been keeping up-to-date on everything iphone 5 at http://testiphone5.com recently
