What is this Apple Memorabilia Mystery Item?

It sounds like every Apple fan’s dream: you start a new job and while you’re riffling through the desk they’ve assigned you, you come across a dusty little Apple branded artifact…

That’s what happened to Jason P. about a year ago and now he’s trying to get some more info on when it was made, what it was for and what it might be worth. (He’s not sure whether he wants to sell or keep it, yet. If you leave your email in the comments section he’ll contact you if he does.)

He has looked to see if there were any manufacturing marks, but alas there seem to be none.

So, Cult of Mac readers: what is it?

Bikini inspector? Repair magnifier? Supersize reader?

It’s a magnifying glass to inspect the quality and the screen angles of a full color printjob.
The Apple logo might be a simple sticker.

    The exact term is “loupe”.

i also believe it to be a photo loupe. i had one similar to it. i was told when i bought it that, originally, it was from the textile industry as an inspection tool for fabric weave and density.
