But if you actually did your research you would have known that a proposal, shot down by Perry, would have (keywords – would have) cost Texas more than 300,000 jobs. Unemployment is high in Texas, but so is the growth rate. More people have been flocking to Texas since 2008 than ever before and like any other economic state, will be slow to follow (or provide as many jobs as population growth)..

Yeah Ed, 8.2% is “low” unemployment. And it’s all due to “small” government – well, except for the 115,000 government jobs created in 3 years (and 40K private sector jobs eliminated).
But they do have one of the lowest average wages in the country, and they are the big “winner” in highest percent (and number) of uninsured residents – 25%. And 70% of those are employed!
Don’t mess with Texas. It’s already a big mess.

Texas has managed to attract 478,000 new citizens just from June 1 of 2008 to June 1 of 2009; higher than any other state, and managed to keep unemployment below 10% even with the growing problem of illegal immigrant workers.
