Apple has begun accepting donations to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Matthew relief. You can donate between $5 and $200 using the iTunes app for Mac and PC, or via the App Store and iTunes Store apps on your iOS device.
It couldn’t be easier to make a donation via Apple, and 100 percent of your cash goes to the American Red Cross. Simply look for the American Red Cross banner in the App Store and iTunes, then tap to donate either $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, or $200.
[contextly_auto_sidebar] Of course, you could just donate directly to the American Red Cross, but using Apple’s services automatically charges the credit card associated with your iTunes account, which makes things quicker and easier — especially if you’re using a mobile device.
Your money goes towards things like food, shelter, and other necessities required by those affected by national disasters. Hurricane Matthew, which has already claimed 33 lives, is the first Category 5 Atlantic hurricane since Hurricane Felix in 2007.
In addition to hitting southeastern parts of the United States, Hurricane Matthew has also impacted Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas. It has caused approximately $5 billion worth of damage, with winds reaching up to 160 mph.
