Verizon has launched a new ad featuring Apple’s popular iPhone which mocks the network coverage offered by rivals AT&T and Sprint.

In the 30-second clip, a group abandons a sinking ship, escaping with just their lives and their iPhones. Only one of the party gets enough signal to make a call, and that’s the one who’s on Verizon — a carrier which claims to offer “the best wireless service in the world for your iPhone.”

While AT&T was the exclusive carrier for the iPhone when the device launched back in 2007, the company lost that privilege in February of this year when Apple launched a CDMA iPhone 4 for Verizon. With the release of the iPhone 4S, Sprint also joined the party to offer Americans three carrier choices for the device for the first time ever.

If you were floating on one of the large lakes in Oklahoma in this ad, you would be out of luck on Verizon!      They have no coverage in that half of the state at all.

It also shows off how few people have the iPhone on Verizon…..

One company bashing another, what’s new? Is this seriously newsworthy?

There are some places in Washington DC that AT&T has great coverage and Verizon has 0 bars.

I’ve found that I actually get better coverage and less dropped calls with AT&T where I live than I did with Verizon. Of course, I had a semi-crappy feature phone with Verizon, not the iPhone I have now.

Yeah…but his proximity sensor doesn’t work…his phone is still on while he was holding it up to his head.

Watch out for those moisture sensors. Hope they don’t try to return that phone to Verizon.

Ok but can Verizon and Sprint please fix their CDMA waves so I can get more than one bar and no data signal in my rec centre where I work?  I want to be like my T-mob and AT&T friends :(
